The Kingdom

I finally saw this movie which was filmed in my backyard (I remember when the crew member was killed in the SUV collision). I was impressed with the film and acting overall. The action scenes we engrossing. In one scene I found sighing with relief along with the actors after on brutal fight scene.

I have never been a big Jason Bateman fan but I gained some respect for him after watching The Kingdom.

I wish them movie would have done better at the box office.

While I'm a big fan of Jason Bateman in Arrested Development, I thought he was miscast in The Kingdom. Depending on what the film was aiming for, he either wasn't nerdy, neurotic or normal/average enough IMO.

Spoilers below?

I watched it for the second time and thought that the end scene where each side, in the least subtle way, expressed the same motivations (~"We shall kill them all") was somewhat clumsy.

RE Bateman. He annoyed me in the beginning but I thought he was very good from the time the car bomb took out the caravan to the end.

Jennifer Gardner also impressed me late in the film especially during Bateman's rescue.

reading on IMDB it seem they had some problems with the ending. From IMDB - The earlier ending had Al-Ghazi surviving, but instead Haytham says goodbye to the FBI team at the air base with a hidden bomb strapped to his chest. Sykes tackles Haytham away from the group, but Haytham detonates it before Sykes can get clear.
