Wait, what? I'm seriously confused.

What about God would violate any of the laws of thermodynamics? That's just weird.

What attributes of God are you positing, and how are they in violation of any physical laws? And please be specific. I've never heard anything even vaguely along these lines before.

Reading list for EP9 and the other folks who think religion is totally stupid and has no intellectual features....

Thomas Aquinas, Summa theologiae.
St. Augustine, City of God.
Charles Hartshorne, Omnipotence and Other Theological Mistakes.

These three guys, along with many others who could be named, are applying the method in EP9's chart labeled "science" to the ideas of faith. There's a lot to learn.

Question for the forum...

If you negative feelings towards religion do you find that you know some religious people who you dislike?

For example, do you know some Christian guy who you look at and think, "I have NO desire to have my life resemble his in any way."

There's a difference between liking someone, and agreeing with their (core) beliefs - to a degree, obviously. If they're a radical jihadist, then it's hard to like them unless you're one of em :P

Hmm.. omnipotent deities (according to their advocates) break the law of conservation of energy, ignore entropy, act at a distance faster than the speed of light (and I don't mean quantum entanglement), deliberately manipulate every fossil, gene and physical feature of every species to make it look as if evolution happens even though it doesn't, and exist entirely outside of space-time.

I have generally found religious people to be perfectly kind and generous folks, often given much back to their community. My parents in law are very active in their local church and are some of the kindest and most decent people you will ever meet.

I just avoid theological discussion with them and will make sure that for every 'Baby Jesus loves you book' they leave around for my kids to read, I will leave one around about Greek Myths and Monsters, Norse Mythology etc so they can more easily place the Christian God in his proper context...
