Cake Series III Gold Cards

Is it just me, or does it seem like they're giving out gold cards like candy this time around? I already have twice as many Series III cards as Series II, and they've only had Series III running for a short time. I even got a today - never got higher than a 6 with Series II

The series III are being released 10x as fast as the series II.
