Who's the bigger monkey?

Postby bensberg » Mon Jul 11, 2005 7:32 am

$25 NL - Tight table, blinds .10/.25

Pre-flop:

2 limpers, I raise in MP to $2 with [9c] [Tc] . Folds all the way around to the limper right in front of me who calls.

Flop: ($4.55) [5d] [4h] [Qc]

I bet $3. Limper calls.

Turn: ($10.55) [Kc]

Limper checks, I check.

River: ($10.55) [6c]

Limper bets $3, I raise to $8, he re-raises all-in to $14, I call.

He shows [Ac] [3c] .

After he called my continuation bet, I was done with the hand, until the river of course.

Thoughts?

First, that's just rough. Second, I would make that continuation bet a little closer to the pot so I would bet $4. I don't know if it would have mattered for this guy. After that, I'll pay him off if he caught a higher flush.

This was on PokerRoom. Still fishy, but not quite as fishy as PP. In fact, the table had been playing very tight, and when I saw what he had called 8xBB with, I was thinking... where is that call when I have big cards?

I like the advice given here. If you're gonna try and steal...it's usually good to at least double your preflop raise. I would have bet $4 on the flop there.

Also good advice about playing tight and simple on these $25 tables. There realy are a TON of calling stations that will pay you off.
