Hmmmmmm, I guess people have moved on from spilling McDonalds coffee in there lap and needed a new frivilous lawsuit. Sounds like someone just found a way to blame him bad decision making on someone else. Hell the drugs made me do it, sounds a lot better than I made bad decsions to put all my money in a slot machine.

I'm WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too drunk to read the article, but I often smoke pot and then eat a lot of cookies... If that's helpful to the discussion... I tried to find my laptop to play a VERY illadvised SNG, but stumbled around and couldn't find it... And eventually made my way into the kitchen for Ritz crackers and cheese... mmmm.... So, I guess smoking saved me the embarrassment of getting my ass kicked in a $100 SNG... That's gotta be +Ev, right... ?

All right! Sounds like we've got another member of the degenerate club here on BTP!! I'll leave it to your imagination to determine whose in *that* one. So many souses on this board, christ!

Dont get all happy yet though, because there are initiation rites. Well, only one really, but its a doozy.

First ya gotta drink a handle of Peach Schnapps. Then ya gotta strip down naked, cover yourself from head to toe in peanut butter, attach a pink ribbon to your penis that trails behind you, and run thorough whichever downtown is closest to you singing 'Im a little teapot.' You must have this videotaped, and linked on BTP.

Upon completion of this, you will be instructed as to the finalt step, which involves a cauldronful of goat urine, a funnel, and Elton John.

Congrats you SOUSE!! I cant drink for the nest 2.5 weeks, but when that bar exams over, im gonna give my liver a beatin that only TWs mom's drunken boyfriend Jimbo can hope to compare to!

PS: That article is stupid, there are about a million reasons that class action will fail. Strangely though, i wouldnt be surprised if some of the individual plaintiffs won. Fuck! I wish i could sue someone for my -8bb/100 poker playing. Hmm...parents maybe? Yeah that sounds like it might work...

Sort of off-topic, but the McDonald's coffee lawsuit was actually a solid lawsuit. The coffee wasn't just hot, it was insanely scalding hot. Way way too hot to drink. It caused serious burns on like dozens of people around the country. McDonalds knew it was causing these burns and made the corporate decision to keep doing it the same way (don't remember why). They needed to get hit with that lawsuit, not so much to make them pay the $$$ but to make them stop harming people with unnecessarily hot coffee.

OK. End of off-topic. We now return you to your actual topic ... which was ... massive drug use or something. :)

"My point being that anyone who bought McDonalds coffee knee that, so to put it in your lap when you are driving proves your stupid...."

Dangerous consumer products shouldn't be allowed. Saying "everybody knows it's dangerous" shouldn't get you off the hook.

Remember those old, old SNL skits? Dan Ackroyd selling "big bag of broken glass" and all that? Funy stuff. "Well, any idiot would know that playing with a big bag of broken glass is dangerous. So don't buy it." Yes, but the more important thing is don't manufacture it and market it as a toy.

Anyway, I agree on your main point. Stupidity shouldn't be a path to riches.

Or, at least, it shouldn't be the path to riches for the stupid person.. Other people's stupidity is the path to riches for decent poker players.

But kent isnt it pretty much common sense that putting a cup of coffee in your lap while driving is not a brigth idea while driving anyways. I am in no way defending Mcdonalds, their food is the worst of all fast food.

McDonalds coffe was scaldingly hot??? What are these people, morons??? It's fucking impossible to heat water over 100 degrees centigrade without it turning into vapour very rapidly (unless you alter the chemical content or atmospheric pressure). Coffee is made by boiling water, it's pretty rencid if you try to throw in luke warm water, innit? Just wait for it to cool, jesus. Anyone who gets an obviously very hot cup of just-brewed coffee and throws down a glug of it without checking whether it may just be about 95 degrees has gotta be a serious detriment to the damn gene pool. Anyone fucking pig STUPID enough to put rest a potentially scaldingly hot cup of coffee on their PRIVATES whilst OPERATING A FUCKING CAR pretty much deserves the very likely spillage that will prevent them contributing to said gene pool, in painful and doubtless amusing circumstances.

Some people deserve to get scalded. And neutered. Jesus.

I gotta agree with Kent on this one -- the whole reason she was suing was that she had $20K worth of medical bills from the incident. This was NOT a frivolous lawsuit. The fact that the jury awarded millions of dollars in punitive damages says more about the jury than the lawsuit.
