I think it would horrible for poker. The last two champions were decent guys that really made people feel like "anyone could win."

Suhleaf may beg to differ....but that guy makes me want to vomit. He'll make poker players look like arrogant asses and drive people away from the game.

First off, if he wins ESPN will show him in a good light which I think will help a little. Most people seem to think he is an ass from what has been shown on TV and yes he does come across a pompus ass. The problem is that ESPN can really make anyone look like an ass if they really want. Since Raymer won last year they had make him look like the hero which automaticly made Mike the goat. Its really hard to tell from as few hands as they show what a person is like. I am not defending the guy he did make some obnoxious comments but if ESPN had wanted to they could have made it look like he was just joking or ignored it alltogether.

My opionon differs a little from Ice, yeah the guy has some bad stuff in his past but that doesnt mean his is a bad person. Granted I have never been arrested for selling coke but there is some stuff in my past that would make me look like a really bad person if that is all I was judged on. Dont get me wrong, I am NOT rooting for him to win, I'm just saying to judge him as a person from one arrest and a few things shown on TV seems like to little info to judge him as a person.

In one of the interviews that they have on Cardplayer he did make a comment that he felt bad for Greg Raymer. That Raymer had played very well and to get busted the way he did was a shame, that Raymer had played so well that he deserved to be able to defend his championship and to get sucked out by someone "Who lost there Mind for a minute", sucks. So apperently there is no bad blood from last year.

Someone said that the best thing Raymer could have done after the world series...was to send matasow a postcard in jail...with a picture of a big naked sweaty ass raymer lying on huge piles of cash...on the back it would say "hope you enjoy your time!"

Meh. I dunno I mean shure hes an obnoxious SOB, Ill give ya. But, he is definitely considered to be a top player by the other top players...And honestly, I think if at this point he wins it, shure the big jerk wins and were all booing, but on the other hand, who the fuck is Daniel Bergsdorf anyway? I mean, if a noname pudwhacker wins it, thats all well and good but at the same time, i think it sort of reinforces a feeling we are seeing more of nowadays, namely that the field is just too damn crowded, and with enough players / dead money, the positive expectation of a great player winning becomes so attenuated that the whole thing just endsup being more like a PartyPoker SnG than The WSOP, which is THE contest, the winner of which is supposed to be the greatest player out there (or one of, at least). I think THAT feeling is probably worse for the game than an ahole winning.

So basically, if the mouth wins, i think that in a way, it will be better for 'the game' than it will be if Joe Dickwad wins it by catching 3 two outers in a row, or at least it'll balance out to not being that bad.

Of course, Id rather have ivey, raymer, even Negraneau, hell even Phil up there- Maybe even Annie Duke who i find thoroughly obnoxious, maybe even moreso than Mike the Mouth. But hey, I think I'll have more faith in 'the game' if Mike the Mouth wins it than if Johnny 'Cracklicker' McNutsack wins it

And anyway, when the bad guy won the title in the WWF, did that ever stop anyone from watchin? Nah. Same with poker- there aint alot anyone can do to 'hurt' poker in my opinion. The snowballs been pushed off the top of the mountain, and its gonna keep on rolllin till all the godawful mizors go broke.

A little aside:

Mike the mouth lost all respect from me when he
a) Made that ridiculous debacle of a display talkin about BIG BALLS at the table, and then
b) Right after that, having it cut to an interview of him after he'd busted when he's simpering his guts out like a little faggot.

Its like, if your gonna be mr bignuts, then fine, and if your gonna be a whiny little beyotch then thats fine too, but if your a whiny little slut masquerading as mr bignuts, then you pretty much suck as a human being.

I'm rooting for Andy Black to win, he's Irish so he's nearly a fellow countryman who apparently has the knack for Irish one-liners. Padraig Parkinson has my favourite one-liner about the WSOP, when he won $500,000 in the ME a few years ago regarding how he spend the winnings, "Well, I drank half of it and squandered the rest".

Plus, this Andy Black character is the one who stalled on his go for 15 minutes when an opponent was late getting back to the their seat after a break and was in the BB.

I've met the mouth once while he was coming out of the Taj, where I was waiting for my brother to pick me up. He seemed pretty nice, but I did only talk to him for a couple minutes.

I think him winning would be real good for the game. ESPN does NOT want to make him seem like an asshole if he becomes the champ, for fear of losing ratings by people stepping away from the whole thing. And we really do need a great player to win this thing again.
