Flopped sets, Bad week

Postby BKAZ » Tue Jul 19, 2005 7:41 am

I have been in a slump to the tune of about 8 buy ins this past week. Some is bad play like the first hand I will post although I probably would have still lost my stack anyway seeing what he held, the second I am not sure of.

Comment on how I played these hands. I am not playing well right now and am trying to come out of it so feel free to point out all mistakess.

You played them both fine.

Hand #1.. I wouldve bet the turn to get more money in and to protect from a 4 card straight being ont he board at the river, but it this particular hand, you were going down with the ship no matter what you did.

I think they were both ok, the only reason I play hand 1 any different is because I know SDMuppet to be a very good player, great screen name too. Other than that, I'm on the same kind of streak, when you can't get flopped sets to win to save your life, you are not going to win money, it's as simple as that.

That's true, the first hand I would have bet the turn and just call the river, definitely not raise because I know the player and he plays well. I won't reveal his hidden identity, because he probably doesn't know that I know him. I doubt you could take him off KK though. It happens, my week kind of sucked as well.

Hand #1

(1) You really need to bet that turn to build the pot so that (a) you can get the rest of your money in on any river, and (b) in case one of a billion scare cards rivers and scares the fishies off

(2) Out of interest, since consensus seems to be that MP+1 is strong:

the board shows [6d][3s][8c][7s], there's $60 in the pot, you have $80 behind with [Ks][Kc], and the SB has just check-called a bet and raise (when he wasn't closing the action) ... and now leads for $40... (PFR probably now folds)

What does a "good"(=you) player do here? What does a "typical"(=weak) player do here?

Hand #2

Bad beat post! Go and stand in the corner :)
