Is there a reason why americans have taken the letter 'U' out of colour and turned recognise into recognize, I've never heard an explanation.

we took English from you and made the naturally upgrades to it. We took the U out because it was silent and silent. We turn s's to z's because it could and we also don't pronounce every letter of a word if we don't need to like schedule.
