Hero checks, BB bets t250, UTG folds, Hero raises to t1750, BB folds.
Final Pot: t2300
I flopped a semi-decent hand, but here are my thoughts:
1) If I bet I will most likely get called by the big-blind with almost any holding and probably re-raised if he has any spade.
2) If I get any action from UTG I am most likely beat.
3) BB will almost definitely bet if I check to him.
4) If BB checks, I will also give up the hand, as I have only seen him check when he has a premium hand.
So I figure this, I can't bet any amount strong enough to define my hand that will drive out the BB, but I need to know if UTG is going to play, so I check knowing BB will bet, if UTG calls or raises I am out with almost no loss. UTG folds, so I now figure I am most likely ahead and push to take the pot, even if I get called I should be in a good position to double through.
This is not a move that I would normally make, but I was feeling pretty confident in my reads. Is this a good play or not?
