Well a short day today as I only played one hand of 10-20 7 Stud Hi/Lo and won that. Went on an excursion outside of Caracas today just to get out of the city a little bit and enjoy the country side. Cooking up some lentil soup with various things that is smelling pretty rightous now. Think I am going to take the rest of the day off and watch a movie or two.

TW Day

Postby piersmajestyk » Sun Aug 14, 2005 6:50 pm

Well after a hard fought battle with TW in the wee hours of the morning I managed to overcome an early deficit and hold old for a victory in the TW challenge. I have to say that I caught my sure of huge hands (A6o, K8o, K4s, K3s, Q3o, J5o, 108o, 107o, 106o, well pretty much every hand with a ten in it, 95o, 43o) that all miracoulously held up. When you are catching those kind of cards your opposition is in for a long night and so it was. But I thought what the hell in honor of the challenge I christened today TW Day here in Venezuela and celebrated with a long ocean drive and then swept up into the mountains while downing quite a few cold ones and then I said a new holiday has to have a good feast associated with it so I bought some fresh shrimp, calamari, mussels and various other tasty morsels for a paella and a big ass container of Sangria. My wife and I just made a toast to TW, "humanitarian, consumate gentleman and a perfect candidate for a Check Raise". Thanks for a wonderful day TW :P

LoL! Thats quite possibly the most perfect description of TW i have ever read! A gentleman because only someone very comfortable with his status as 'gentleman' would drink $6 bottle of whiskey, humanitarian because he drinks as much of the stuff as he can find so as to spare the rest of the world from it, and well, i think the third thing speaks for itself.

Man i feel like a total muppet. Am i the ONLY one that lost to that mizor in the so-called TW challenge?

you've probably got some major leaks in your post-flop play, mecos. i hear TW charges $125/hr for lessons (see his journal), and i can only think they would pay for themselves if you took a few.

After starting off up then down then even I decided to play a 20 S&G on Stars. I have been running extremely well and playing well in all the games and in this S & G you could write a textbook on a perfectly played tourny. I doubled up + a little early on when my AQ held up against a flush draw and then continued to nibble away at small pots until it got 4 handed and I had about 7K of the 13.5K at the table and the others were evenly distributed. I just kept up a barrage of steals, reraises, etc. while the other 3 fought to make the money. When number 4 went out I held 12K of the chips. Then I did the same to the other 2 as they tried to hold on for 2nd. When HU I had 13K and finished him off the next hand.

When you are able to get a significant lead in a S & G and it's bubble time just keep pounding with every opportunity and you will put yourself in a good spot to win the whole thing without much of a fight a big part of the time.

A decent afternoon session put me in the black for the day, albeit only a small amount. Going to use the proceeds to enter a couple of tournies at PStars, 10NL and 5NL at 7:45 and 8:05. Haven't played a MTT in a while so should be a nice change of pace.
