In my parent's neighborhood, you can't park on your own lawn. Nor can you build anything without getting the neighborhood's permission, as well as the city's or whatever. And ya can't chop down trees in your yard. That's what I call freedom.

Oh, and I have no idea.
Partake in my bollocks, bloody chav!

Striker's right, we're losing it... you have to get a permit to take a p_ss in most towns/cities, and that's in your own back yard...i do it anyway, just to exercise my natural rights...
8-)
What most Americans don't know, is in 3 years we're all supposed to get a national ID card...Big Brother is coming...our fine Congresscritters sneaked that one through a few weeks ago.
Americans aren't so obsessed w/ freedoms anymore, we've had it so good for so long that we've become complacent and spoiled, everyone just wants THEIR piece of the pie and try to keep up with the Jones'.

The DA is like the police chief. he doesnt do any actual prosecuting work at all. He doesnt decide what cases get prosecuted either (unless its a huge publc figure or something). He over sees the court prosecutors, promotes the good ones, fires the bad ones, handles the district attorneys office's budget. Makes policy decisions. Things like that.

Jaywalking is only illegal in downtown areas, but is rarely enforced.

Jaywalking is bad because if you step out from between 2 parked cars while oblivious to your surroundings, you can wind up flattened under a bus or something.

The law isn't really there because we care about you, the jaywalker, but because it takes too much time and money to clean up the mess you're going to leave on the street and to have a police officer write the incident up for posterity.

Jaywalking is a dumb term, anyhow. Surely jays spend more time flying???

Ahhhh, ye GODS, that was awful monk. I mean WOW! Brutal! I nearly cried. I suppose in a way it's a compliment that I almost puked all over my keyboard upon reading your post, because that just shows that we've come to expect a fairly high level of humor out of you. But that was just...I mean that was...I mean, CHRIST, just stick to the gay jokes, man. :)

I generally agree with Lush....

But if we start having serious political arguments here, and people really take the gloves off, we may not like each other as much afterward. I think the sense of community here is more important than scoring political points.

FWIW, I say be careful around political topics.
