Where to consider Buying your Gas

Postby WildBillHickok » Tue Aug 30, 2005 4:52 pm

WHERE TO BUY YOUR GAS,

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW.

READ ON--

Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it.

It might even be good for us!

The Saudis are boycotting American goods.

We should return the favor.

An interesting thought it to boycott their GAS.
Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia . Just buy from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.

Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends.

I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell.............................205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Citgo.......................0 barrels
Sunoco...................0 barrels
Conoco...................0 barrels
Sinclair....................0 barrels
BP/Phillips..............0 barrels
Hess........................0 barrels ARC0.0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas buyers.

It's really simple to do.

Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I'm sending this note to about thirty people.

If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it .... THREE HUNDRED MILLION
PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.

How long would all that take?

If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next eight days!

Why are the Saudis boycotting U.S. goods?

What happens when every other country has their oil reserves exhausted and only Saudi remains, assuming this happened and worked?

We don't have time for rational thoughts and explanations!!!! BOYCOTT!!!!!!!

P.S.
My MOBIL Speedpass allows me to purchase Saudi gas roughly 6 seconds faster than non-Saudi gas, so, I'm out.

The reason that Citgo and Sunoco dont import gas from the middle east is they dont import gas at all. They get the leftovers from the big companies like Shell, Chevron, etc.. So even if we buy gas from those companies it is indirectly coming from the middle east.

Instead of boycotting oil from Saudi Arabia and the middle east, why dont we try to use alternate transportation, or buy hyribrids on other fuel effiecient Vehicles, doest that do the same thing and cleans up a lot of our pollution problems at the same time. What this all comes down to is we need to find methods of transportation that are not from oil. Instead we need to find reusable energy sources like electric cars and hydrogen powered cars.

Not to get on my soap box to much here, but it is ironic to me to see people with American flags on their giant SUV's, if they really wanted to be patroitic sell the 6 mpg Excursion and hit the middle east where it really hurts in the wallet. How many well funded terrorists groups do you know of in Ethopia or Eugonda?? Of course none, they are not rich countries. What makes the Saudi's rich, our need for their oil.

I think there are several problems with the general argument presented here.

1) The world petreoleum market is not segmented into little groups where you can decide to buy Middle East oil or buy Mexican oil. Say OPEC oil sells for $65/bbl and oil from Mexico sells for say $60/bbl, where do you think all the world's oil buyers will go? Mexico of course. The natural response of the market is to create "arbitrage" and level out to one price. Mexican oil would get more "expensive" with all those buyers, and OPEC oil would get "cheaper" with fewer buyers. There is one world oil market. That's why Chinese demand affects oil prices (and thus gas prices) in the U.S. The Middle East is only the biggest producer of the world's one oil market.

2) Oil prices are dicatated by supply and demand. Gas prices are dictated by supply and demand, but the supply of gas is determined by refining capacity. One of the biggest problems facing the US is NOT a shortage of oil, but a shortage of our abilty to refine oil into gas. If you want to lower gas prices, you have to not just reduce demand for gasoline but also increase supply (i.e. refining capacity).

3) Conservation will NOT reduce the US dependence on foreign oil. I know this sounds preposterous, but it is true. Why? The reason is in production costs. To produce a barrell of oil in the US costs around $15/bbl. To produce a barrell in Saudi Arabia costs about $1.50. If everyone conserved and used less gas, the price of gas and oil would go down. However, it would probably drive US manufacturers out of business and certainly give a competitive advantage to the Middle East producers. We would use less foreign oil, but we would be MORE dependent as we would be harming our own production capabilities while importing a greater percentage of cheap middle east oil.

If you want to reduce dependence on the much maligned Middle East oil, we need to start using a completely different energy source like fuel cells or solar energy. Having high gas prices like we have today also helps reduce dependence on foreign oil imports as it provides incentive for increasing and improving domestic production.
