"Your Team"

Postby Sunbob » Mon Sep 12, 2005 1:52 pm

I live in Iowa,in the middle of the corn fields so we don't have a professional ball team. Therefore college football is BIG here. And "my team", the Iowa State Cyclones, is the only team that really gets me going. We aren't a football powerhouse. For 35 years we have languished in the shadow of the big guys.

Last Saturday we beat the Iowa Hawkeyes (ranked 8th) - we humilitaed them, 23-3. This is huge deal for us Clones.

So what is your team?

I grew up in Bloomington IN, and IU looked really good this weekend!
Well...

they won.

I now live in Indy, and the Colts did SO MUCH BETTER that their preseason performance, that I am no longer ashamed to live here.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

I sure am sorry to all you Eagles fans....my Falcons took care of you last night...and I don't want to hear any excuses on the fact that you didn't have Trotter that is why you lost the game.

He wouldn't have put anymore points up on the board for you, and 10 just wasn't going to be enough.

The offensive line was simply offensive, and the defensive line wasn't great either. The Falcons beat us at the line of scrimmage. Trotter would've helped, but the Eagles didn't execute last night.

They came out flat.

Rest assured, it won't happen again. I feel bad for the 49ers. Last year, after the Steelers beat us, the Cowboys got obliterated. I see the same fate (so long as McNabb's healthy) for the Niners.

My teams:

(1) Vanderbilt Commodores! 2-0 in football this year with road wins at Arkansas and Wake Forest. Basketball season holds some promise too.

(2) Atlanta Thrashers! Our top six forwards are Kovalchuk, Hossa, Bondra, Holik, Savard, and Kozlov... what else is there to say?

(3) Atlanta Braves, Falcons and Hawks -- I'm a big John Smoltz fan, a classy guy who has been in Atlanta for his whole career -- over 15 years. The Falcons are one of the most exciting teams in football, and would be even better if we could get a decent WR. Not much good going on with the Hawks, but our most recent first round draft pick could be the kind of big man a franchise is built around. I didn't care for the Joe Johnson trade.
