Figure that headline ought to attract some eyeballs.

Yesterday, Bush came out publicly and took responsibility for Katrina and the slow relief response.

Do I think it was all Bush's fault? Nope and I doubt he does either.

However, good leaders take responsibility for things that were outside their control. Why? Because by taking responsibility, you can fix the problem and come to a solution. It sets everyone's mind in the right direction.

It's nice to hear at least one politician (whether I believe his politics or not) that is willing to stop the blame game and start addressing real issues.

The slow response was most decidedly not outside of Bush's control.

The simple fact is that he appointed a guy whose most stellar achievement was managing a group of horse lovers to a position where thousands of lives could hang in the balance.

Who is more the fool, the fool or the fool who appoints the fool to such an important position?

All I know is that if during times like this is poeple would quit blaming everyone else and demading they everyone else do something...and they decide what THEY themselves can do...we would be better off.

The mayor of N.O. was screaming and cussing like a maniac that nobody was helping them, meanwhile I see about 500 school busses sitting idle. Why didnt HE take initiative and bus those people out of there...before or after the flood?

Was it all Bush's fault?? Well no, the blame can't fall all in one person, but Bush did appoint an incompetent person to run FEMA. So in a lot of ways it is his fault. It is good that he took the blame for this but it would be better if he would stop making bad decision so he didnt have to take the blame for stuff. Lets just say Bush is living up to all my expectations, when I didnt vote for him.

Yes people do like to point the finger and play the "blame game." You can say what you want about the mayor of New Oreleans but him pointing the finger at other people did make the government get off their ass and help faster than would have. The rest of the country pointing fingers, well there really wasnt much they can do. A lot of people have dontated money but beside that what else can we do?? Blaming the government for messing up is a good way to keep it from happening again.

Ice, we taught them to depend on others. Some of these people are FIFTH GENERATION WELFARE.

They don't think for themselves any more. They don't do a damn thing but stand in line for their hand-outs.

If there was a hand-out line for busses out of the city (what else are they gonna do, drive?), they might've been in that line.

OK, maybe that's incredibly cruel... Certainly some of the poor folks who perished had absolutely no way out. The aged / infirm, I mean... It's not them I'm talking about.

But if you're going to teach people to be meat puppets like we continue do every welfare check, then you damn well better be ready to lead them out of any disaster you think you want to save them from.

Sounds like I'm talking about children... or sheep... well... maybe...
