CJ, I think you're old more than condescending. Well, maybe a little of both.
I don't know how young you think we all are, though. I saw the originals of Police Squad, as well as Hill Street Blues, Taxi, Cheers.
I think that as we get older, we get a little more mature and also a little more jaded. Things that struck us as brilliant when we were younger are now obvious and less interesting. So TV shows from my youth were better than anything that's on now.
Or, well, maybe they weren't.
I have very fond memories indeed of Hill Street Blues, for instance, but was it really better than Homicide Life on the Streets? I don't know. Was St. Elsewhere better than ER? Cheers or Frasier? Taxi or Friends? (Dallas or Desperate Housewives??)
I got both the Family Guy and the South Park DVDs and have really enjoyed watching them. I've also seen all the episodes of the Simpsons. Which is the best? Who knows? I guess for me, I can watch them all now and enjoy them all, and it's all good.
Now Sanford and Son, I'm gonna have to call you on that one -- never liked it much even back in the day. I've also never laughed once at Married w/Children, even though it was on when I was growing up. Just never figured out what was supposed to be funny.
