ICE rankings...week4

Postby iceman5 » Tue Sep 27, 2005 2:06 pm

1) Indy...I have one question. Is their defense really that good? Or is it because their Dungy finally got around to tinkering with the offense. His offense is TB was very run oriented and boring. This does however, help your defense tremendously because your offense holds the ball longer with more controlled drives. Indys offense looks remarkably boring now. At this point, they still look pretty damed good. I dont think the offense will be handciffed for long.

2) N.E...N.E. still has work to do. Theyve scored 70 points and given up 67. These are chamionship calibre numbers by a long shot....but once again they got the job done when the game was on the line and this IS what chamionship teams do.

3) Pittsburgh...They lost by 3 points in a hard fought game. Theyve won 19 of ther last 21 games and only NE has beaten them. Now I wonder about those 52 seconds. I didnt even notice it during the game.

4) Cincy....Carson Palmer is the real deal. They havent been tested yet and wont be again this week, but after that they play Jax. We'll see what theyre made of in that game.

5) Phiily....They better be able beat BAD teams like Oakland easier than a last second field goal or they will have problems.

6) Jacksonville....Once again, they win a hard fought game.

7) Atlanta...The NFC is very weak, but they are by far one of the best 2 teams in that conference. Carolina is a pretender..not a contender.

8) Tampa Bay

9) Seattle

10) Kansas City...Getting ripped to shreds by a divisional rival on Monday Night football is unexcusable. Even on the road in Denver. Another performance like this and I'll drop them like a hot rock.

I like those rankings alot...the week 3 ones were a little off IMO. Except that I don't think Jacksonville is that good, squeaking out a win over the Jets, with Martin at half speed and Chad Pennington with a blown shoulder was not that impressive.

I agree with Indy being number one right now, although if there defense looks like KC's did last night, the first time they meet a good offense, then it will be just like every other Indy season. Although with the soft schedule that they have, this may not be an issue, and they may be able to secure home field advantage for the playoffs, where they would be very difficult to beat. The Pats D is just so banged up.

Im still not convinced Cincy is for real either and I have a natural dislike for them being a Steeler fan, but Palmer is for real, their WRs are damned good, they have a above avg RB.

Their defense is much improved due to Marvin Lewis being the head coach. Theyve had some talent on defense for several years but have never put it together.

I think I put them that high out of lack of any other teams really standing out head and shoulders above the other teams.

Philly is the best NFC team, but thats not saying much. I cant remember there ever being a time where one conference was this much better than the other one.

Glad to see Atlanta up there this week. And yes Atlanta is better than the Seahawks.....they played their worst game in 2 years in that loss in week 2. Falcons will be there in the end.

Back when the Cowboys and 49 ers were the elite teams, the NFC definately had the best 2 teams, but I still dont think it was as lopsided as it is now.

Besides Philly and Atlanta, there isnt even another NFC team that I can say for sure will make the playoffs.

Also, take a look at the interconference recodes from last year. The AFC killed the NFC last year and I think it will be worse this year.

Oakland stinks and almost beat Philly
Miami stinks and DID beat Carolina

It was the same way last year.
