Im at 0.4 PTBBs over my last 6500 hands. I have 10K hands since gong back to $1/$2 after my run of stupid mistakes and my short break. In those 10K hands Im at 4.2PTBBs which just slightly above half my long term win rate for these stakes.

Ive had one prior 10K breakeven streak. Im not sure if this is just another extended breakeven streak like last time (about a year ago) or if I have really been playing subpar poker. Thats the problem with these long streaks. Its really hard to tell if its just an incredibly long streak of bad luck, no cards, 2nd best hands and nobody having anything when you finally hit a hand.....or if you have developed bad habits somewhere.

Last time this happened, I was playing $100NL and was still building my roll. I was very close to my major milestone goal of $10000 which was where I planned to start withdrawing and spending. I was very determined to hit the gola so I kept trudging forward thru the streak. This time, I just dont feel like playing much because of it.

How Ive gone from playing $1000NL and playing what I truly believe was the best poker of my life....to playing $200NL and breaking even is beyond me, but I can tell you the level of frustration is unparallelled which is why Ive only been playing an hour here and there instead of 4 hours a day like I used.

Im glad Im not depending on this money to survive.

I know that has to be frustrating to drop down and still struggle. I salute you for staying patient in the sense that you have had poor cards, but you haven't seemed to press bad situation yielding losses ( I need to learn this).

Streaks like stocks are funny things. They turn when you think there is no way they ever will.

Ice you havent posted any hands so we have no way to tell why you are stuggling. Have you been making bad plays or have you just not gotten big hands when others have?? Also when you dropped back to playing $200 does it keep your attention the same way the $1000 game does??? I have found for me playing live that after playing bigger buy in games going back to the $100 max where most people have $50 in front of the I dont play my best poker because the amount of money on the table is not really enough to keep my interested. You have pretty good discapline so I dont think this is you problem but its worth thinking about anyway. Depending what site you are on go back and go though some of your numbers. Are you having trouble flopping set? Are you not getting paid off on your big pairs, when you flop sets are you not getting any action, are you getting sucked out??

Hey think of it this way, when most people have a bad run of cards they drop a bunch of money at least you are break even.

Dropping in stakes hasnt been a problem. It may have been earlier in my career, but I dont have a need to call my self a high stakes player or anything like that.

I havent been calling big bets (because they are not very big compared to what they used to be in the bigger game), when I shouldnt be calling, so thats not it.


I also havent been gettign out drawn on big hands when Im all in. I havent been getting any hands to get all in with at all.

The last 2 I had I flopped the bottom end of a str8 in a raised pot and the other guy had the top end.....and I got set over setted last night in a raised pot. But both if these hands were AFTER I posted this msg about the break even streak. I got the money back from those big hands but that just made me break even for another several 100 hands.


I think its a case of mostly not getting any big hands when someone else has a 2nd best hand. At least I hope thats it. The only thing I think I might be doing wrong is missing out on a value bet on the river every now and then. Im going to work on that and hope that rest works itself out.

Just curious, why were you still at $100NL when you had almost $10K? At what point did you move up to $1/2?
