It's a good idea, I think. The only problem is that people might start going in there instead of posting, so noone ends up getting much info unless they're in there all day.
Partake in my bollocks, bloody chav!

That's okay, I can always talk to myself on the forums like usual. Seriously, I practically own the limit forums the past few weeks. :P

I think it depends on whether there is a chat mod for phpBB. I imagine there is.

That being said, chat often does create a kind of two-tier communication system that leaves some people out (based on past experiences).

$199 for 50 users max, $99 for add-ons such as moderation ability.

I didn't like the interface much, either, to be honest. To cutesy Japanesey for me. I like crisp and clean.

This 'chat' beast keeps raising its ugly head every few months, lol.

I'll have to have a think. I really don't want to support a chat mod at the moment, I haven't enough time, I've spent loads of time that I don't really have on BTP recently and there are bound to be problems with whichever chat app was chosen initially, so I'd have to do it when I knew I wasn't going to be really busy for a week or so. I also agree that information will just 'get lost'. But countering that, it might be a cool place to hang out!

I'll ponder upon it for a few days.

I dont think it'll be a place for serious "how do i act in this hand" strategy discussion. More of a hang out/having a laugh/general meet n greet sort of area. Lets face it, no-one is going to write out a full hand history in a chatroom, especially if it's not going to be seen by anyone.

I think there's no chance of losing serious forum content. The only problem seems to be the amount of time taken to deal with any issues/problems, and i fully understand if you wouldn't have enough time to look into it, tets. As for the price, i'm sure it's well within the income of btp, and might generate some more traffic I guess if you publicise it on the front page. I can also understand, however, that you might not wish to take money out of your own pocket, or from the profits of the site, to fund something that might not be profitable, I think that's pretty understandable too.

By listing the prices I wasn't encoding anything about our willingness or ability to pay it. Someone just mentioned that it wasn't free, so I was merely following up on that. :D

What have tetsuo's wallet and the tomb of tutankhamun got in common?

Some guys managed to open the tomb in, ooooh, about 1925  :P
