JUST PLAIN STUPID

Postby piersmajestyk » Sat Jan 22, 2005 2:29 am

I just left from a 36 game at Empire that had a couple of the loosest cannons that I have played with in a while and I play everyday at Empire so that is saying something. One cat had a VIP% of 94 and the other one was at 70%. And they just weren't entering pots there was fireworks on nearly every hand with losts of 18 and 24.00 bets on nada but a dream. The 94% guy ran his buy in of 150 to over 600 and back down to 0 in the span of 93 hands. The other guy went bust for his initial buy in, rebought for 100 and ran it to over 400 in the same time. Chips were moving is all I can say and par for the course I lost 3.00 over this time with a couple of nasty beats and I dealt out a couple myself.

But in all of this what really pisses me off and it happens alot is this. The 94% guy goes bust and leaves the table. Well that leaves me, 7 rocks and the 70% guy still in with chips and not appearing to slow down but what happens. One guy doesn't post and then the next guy in line doesn't post and then the next guy in line doesn't post and then the next guy in line doesn't post and I am left playing heads up and take him for a pot and then he doesn't want to play anymore because everyone left. Why in god's name would you leave this table and go get in a waiting list for another game unless you just have no sense at all. Games are built around people like this and just because one goes bust there was plenty left with the other guy. He wasn't quite as bad as the other guy but he for example paid 18.00 on a river bet and couldn't beat a pair of 2's. What else do you want? Are people so afraid to play 7 or 8 handed for a few minutes while a couple of the other 500000000 people on Empire replace the 2 or 3 empty seats. It just makes no sense to leave a game like that unless you are quitting for the night and these rocks had no intention of quitting just going to another table with 9 other players seated.

Here are a couple of highlights of the table. The first I limp in with A4s and people that know me would think I had lost my marbles playing this hand UTG but when games like this emerge you have to be willing to get in there and gamble with some hands like this because if you hit you are going to get paid off big.

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [4h], [Ah].
Hero calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button calls, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (5 SB) [7d], [4d], [3c] (5 players)
SB checks, BB bets, Hero raises, MP1 3-bets, Button folds, SB folds, BB calls, Hero calls.

Turn: (7 BB) [4c] (3 players)
BB checks, Hero checks, MP1 bets, BB raises, Hero 3-bets, MP1 calls, BB calls.

River: (16 BB) [Js] (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, MP1 raises, BB folds, Hero 3-bets, MP1 calls.

Final Pot: 22 BB

Hand 2. I cold call a raise in late position by a very solid player in EP with A9s for the same reason as previous.

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [9d], [Ad].
UTG calls, UTG+1 raises, UTG+2 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 calls, Hero calls, Button folds, SB calls, BB folds, UTG calls.

Flop: (11 SB) [Ac], [3h], [7h] (5 players)
SB bets, UTG folds, UTG+1 raises, MP3 3-bets, Hero caps, SB calls, UTG+1 folds, MP3 calls.

Turn: (12.50 BB) [Ks] (3 players)
SB bets, MP3 calls, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, MP3 calls, Hero calls.

River: (21.50 BB) [2s] (3 players)
SB bets, MP3 calls, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 24.50 BB

Hand 3. And here is the tasty morsel that Fish number 2 pays 18.00 on the river with J high and people left the table with this guy still at the table and ready to fire.

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [Jh], [9c].
UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 calls, Hero calls, Button folds, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (4 SB) [As], [Kc], [4h] (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, MP3 bets, Hero folds, SB calls, BB folds.

Turn: (3 BB) [2h] (2 players)
SB bets, MP3 calls.

River Ad : (5 BB) [Ad] (2 players)
SB bets, MP3 raises, SB 3-bets, MP3 calls.

Final Pot: 11 BB FISH 1 had 102o and FISH 2 had J7o

He he I'm with you on this Piers. One of my (many) most hated characteristics of the games at Party is that WHENEVER i am playing omaha 8 (seems to only really be O8 for some reason?) SO often you will see tables with 3 or 4 players on the waiting list and 2 or 3 people SITTING OUT on the table for no reason! Perhaps I don't notice it in other games (in O8 it's much easier to win at a loose table when everyone is playing and the game's full handed with 5 or 6 seeing the flop) but it seems to be mostly O8 and it's VERY annoying. I tend to ask the players to sit in or leave, especially if they're fairly tight. I have no idea why they do it because people seem to do this for extended periods of time, not just waiting for the blinds...

If I wanted to play short handed I'd go to a 6-max! Grrrrrr......

Here's another:

Playing $1/$2 limit on Interpoker. Clown comes in with $40 and loses it in a matter of minutes. He played a pair of 7s. Board came down with something like JJ8 and an 8 on the river, and he's re-raising his ass off. He had NO idea his hand was deader than great-aunt Mabel. If he's not the stupidest poker player ever, I want to meet that guy.

(I took about $25 off the guy myself.)
