ICE Rankings...week 9

Postby iceman5 » Tue Nov 01, 2005 4:34 pm

1) Indy....obvious and redundant

2) Denver...they ran the score up on Philly fairly easily.

3) Pittsburgh....looked very sloppy and uninspired. Balt stinks but normally Pittsburgh doesnt look flat like this especially in a divisional game. They have GB this week, another patsy, but I have the feeling that Cowher is going to chew some ass this week and you'll see the real Steelers.

4) Atlanta...bye week

5) Giants....Im more and more impressed every week. Tiki Barber is the most under-rated RB in the league by a long shot.

6) Carolina....Look out, they are getting hot and building momentum.

7) Cincy...they looked pretty flat against GB also. When Pitts beats GB this week, Pitt will take the division lead. Maybe that will inspire them.

8) Seattle

9) Dallas

10 Jacksonville

Trivia..when was the last time the Super Bowl champs were 3 point underdogs at home? Anyone think NE can beat Indy?

WOW, first I cannot believe this post has been dry for this long!
second, I do believe that the Pats CAN beat Indy...with that said, I do agree with the spread...Indy has a great offense and an 'improved' D (I think some may have over reacted to the extent of improvement but nonetheless, it is improved). This must have been a tough one for Vegas to spread....Indy is the consense #1 in the league BUT the Pats have a great history against them especially as of late. Belicheck will implant a gameplan that gives them the best chance to win. What that is I do not know. On offense they could take the approach of all Dillon all the time to chew time keeping Peyton off the field or they way just let Brady spread them and go nuts matching score for score. On defense, I can only say it will something we never have seen before. In last year's playoff, I was shocked Manning did not take more DEEP shots...that might change Monday and I do not like the prospect of that. No matter what, I do see a lot of Colts getting beat up...

Another thing is that the last few mtgs, the D has give them a key turnover (ex. Tedy picking Manning in the red zone or Ty Law's 3 pick game) or a key stop (stuffing Edge 4 straight plays on the goalline in INDY)

While the Colts have the potential to blow them out, I really think this one is going to go back and forth to the end. I will routing for the Pats but am glad I do not gamble.

ICE, can you please add the Pats to the top 10! I feel they should be ahead of JAX and Dallas easily and an argument could be made for Cincy and Seattle. I am shocked at your seeding for them given their schedule (3 losses-road in denver and carolina, and home against SD and big wins at PITT and at ATL - 5 tough games)....Lets see how Indy does the next few weeks against real opponents!

Also towards the top, Denver is a classic 'Home' team...completely different team on the road. I do not think they would be capable of beating any top 5 team on the road. I mention this because I feel that a really good team can win anywhere (PITT,NE,NYG) and some teams thrive at home and may not have that luxury in the playoffs nor SBXL (DEN,ATL,DAL).

Outside of NE being ousted, I like the rankings overall!

i'm not happy with Pitt as #3. they barely beat baltimore without ray lewis and ed reed and pretty much won due to a jamal lewis fumble deep in their own territory.

Uh, what about the Steelers fumbling the kickoff and allowing Balt to score? Those 2 fumbles canceled each other out.

The Steelers played like crap in that game, but the rankings are about who appears to be the best team, not who played the best game THAT week.

bengals have a better record but are much lower. I think there may be a steelers bias here.

Maybe there is, but Cincy has beaten

1) Cleveland
2) Minnesota
3) Chicago
4) Houston
5) Tennessee
6) GreenBay

Those are 6 of the worst teams in the league
Theyve lost to the only 2 good temas theyve played. Pitt and Jacksonville

Also, Cincy only has a better record because theyve played an extra game.

The Gainst are as highly ranked as humanly possible with a suspect defense. The defense will be their failing when the playoffs come.
