Ice, you are right that Super Bowl rings shouldn't matter, but they do. How else do you explain Bob Griese getting in the hall? His numbers suck (well, like he did). I mean, the guy did a great job of handing the ball off to Csonka, Kiick, and Morris, but that's about it.
Irvin was a tool, but he was definitely a dominating, game-changing receiver. Monk retired with more catches than anyone IIRC, although a lot of those came in the 'smurf' years when defensive contact was severely limited. All I remember about Andre Reed was how he looked like a scared little girl during the Bills-Giants Super Bowl after taking a couple of hits from LT, Carl Banks, and the rest of the Giants D. I also think Reed's numbers are partially inflated due to the offense that he played under (as I think about all SF 49ers of the Bill Walsh era).
In other words, I'd go with Monk definitely, Irvin probably, Reed, probably not.
I would vote for Harry Carson, Lester Hayes, and Ray Guy in a second, as well as the obvious Reggie White. Probably for Aikman as well, but I don't think he should be considered such a shoe in.
