OK, I'm not sure I want to be the one to follow those posts. "Happy ending"?? Yeesh.
But moving on ....
I was reminded in the "American fiction" thread of people's different reactions to Mark Twain. If people read Huck Finn in school, they do not enjoy it nearly as much as they do when they read it on their own. I remember trying to talk with a couple of students during office hours about how great that book is (I was a professor once...long ago; Adam's not the only Ph.D. around here), when they were studying the book (not my class; not my subject area) and they just could not see my point of view.
Same thing applies to a lot of things, including poker. If you have to do it, then it's work, and it's no fun. If you don't have to do it, it's play, and you'll enjoy it more. No matter what it is.
I don't know how possible it is to make poker a pastime rather than a job for you, kenny, but my guess is that you may need to give it a shot. Otherwise you may well be burned out on it completely pretty quick....
I really enjoy playing poker. And I enjoy thinking about the money I can make and will make. But when I think, "Hey, a few hundred bucks a month I could earn maybe -- that's a car payment!" -- it's amazing how unpleasant the whole activity suddenly sounds.
