Dynasty

It's a word that's getting used an awful lot with the Patriots these days. How do you define a dynasty in sports?

The Cowboys of the '60s, 70's and early '80 were in the playoffs 22 out of 23 years. That's a dynasty. People never seem to remember that stat.

Most people dont call you a dynasty unless youre winning SuperBowls. Playoffs dont count.

The Steelers have made the playoffs like 10 of the last 12 years (something like that)
And they have been in the AFC title game 5 of the last 11 years. Every other year is not too shabby. That doesnt make them a dynasty though. You gotta win the big one multiple times.

60's...GB
70s...Pitt
80's....SF
90s...Dallas
00's.....NE if they win this one

Those are the only dynastys

Dynasty

Can it really be a dynasty when you sandwich in a 5-11 season between Super Bowls? To me a dynasty must be consistent. If the Eagles were to win this SuperBowl and one of the next 2 I think they would be a legitimate dynasty due to their consistent dominance over most of the leageu for a 6 or 7 year period. IMO.

I was watching ESPN classics and they showed Dallas vs the Colts in the 71 game I think it was. Wow what a game! It's funny I was 10 when that game was played and watching it again I rembered them from seeing them the first time.

Dallas almost beat them with Morton for a QB. I think Morton left the next year and went to Denver and that was th start of the Stallbach era.

Amen to Rhound's point. As a Wisconsin guy I've quit following baseball almost entirely. (Although I did catch some of the playoffs to root against the Yankees -- though not really for the Sox if you know what I mean.) The Brewers just don't have a chance.

Random factoid: the Brewers' organization (including as the Seattle Pilots in the late 60s) has never had a winning season (over .500) without Paul Molitor in the lineup! When he left for Toronto in 1992 I think it was, that was it. Ugly stuff.
