We've probably all been in or at least seen the situation where a player raises with a genuine holding only to be called by someone holding rubbish. Then the rubbish manages to outdraw the original raiser and they are left thinking "how or why did they call a raise with that". When speaking with work colleagues about Hold 'Em, so often I hear, "well it's only $2 to call so I may as well see a flop". I would imagine it's players with this mentallity that make these calls.

Anyway, I was involved in a pot yesterday, that precisely showed why you shouldn't be calling with nothing. The player who called must've been jumping with joy looking at the board and subsequently gobsmacked when the chips slid my way. It's just nice to see the idiot getting what they deserve.

This hand certainly put a smile on my face and helped to erase the painful memories of being beat by someone calling a raise with rubbish. Hope you all enjoyed my story.

All too often you hear of bad beat this and bad beat that. I think it's nice to hear a few stories of the best hand coming through. It was a stupid call which spectacularly backfired on the caller. Yes I hold my hands up and admit that I didn't even have the best hand preflop, but, at least I was going into the hand with a legitimate holding. People that call pre flop raises with 8 5 deserve all they get in my opinion.

The best hand didn't come through.... UTG had KK...

Don't get me wrong - I absolutely agree. But I guess itt's that sort of player who ends up giving their money away!
