Alex,
After I saw your post I went and checked it out and Phil was up like 17k to 4k or something like that. I watched for about 10 minutes and during that time his opponent took him down until Ivey was down to about 10k. Then Ivey left. Not so much as a goodbye, good game or anything of the sort.
I'm surprised that if he was doing this just as part of his "job" for full tilt, he made no attempt to chat at all that I saw. Even when Helmuth is getting spanked by amateurs at UB he still chats with the fans a bit. I'm surprised that Phil didn't.

JJSCOTT,
I agree that at the end of the day Phil still gets a paycheck but I disagree that losing is a joke to him. He is a person who in his own words "loves to gamble". That's what he said on one of the television shows. So therefore, he wants to win. When he gets spanked like he did last night, I seriously doubt it's a "joke" to him. I'm sure it still gets to him regarless of how much he did or didn't lose. I know it would me and I doubt I am as competitive personality wise as he is.

If you got Chau Giang, Jennifer Harman, Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson, Chip Reese, and Ted Forrest together for a $5/$10 game I would be willing to bet there would be some intensely strong psychological warfare at hand, despite the miniscule stakes to these guys. They are ultra-competetive by nature.

That said, the loss very well may not have bothered Phil, as he is much too smart to be a results oriented thinker, if he felt like he lost because he made bad decisions, ok, he'll be upset. Otherwise he'll probably chalk it up to bad luck and move on with his life.
Boy, you got me confused with a man who repeats himself.

Xaston,
Without knowing him personally, but with the assumption that he is a nice and personable fellow (that could very well be way off the mark I know), I would tend to think that if it didn't bother him in the least to lose, regardless of the stakes, that he would have at least said good game or some other nicety before he quit and left the table. It would only help to endear himself to the people who play at Full Tilt and foster a good image for them as they are paying him to give the everyday Joe a good time. He didn't do that, and it gave the impression that he was pissed so he quit. At least that was the impression that I got.
But you may be right and may be way off on this. This is all just my observations and opinion.
