Reload and move on?

1/2 NL Prima Poker
opponent - $400
me - $200
good player as far as i had seen. I didn't have a specific read about what kind of hands he plays..though he did lead out with trips against me once in a raised pot. he's usually winning if that helps.

Dealt [4d][5c] in the BB. couple of limpers.

FLOP $8
[6d][7c][8h]

I bet $6 in first position. Folded to Late MP who calls.

TURN $20
[6d][7c][8h][Jh]

I lead for $16. he raises to $48

I figure there are too many bluffable river cards that will scare me..so i think it's either all-in or fold. Plus if i move-in a semi bluffed flush draw may fold. Everyone agree on these points or am i wrong???

Anyone fold here? I moved-in and he called instantly so i knew i was toast. he held 910o for the nut straight. I was drawing dead.

An unlucky flop for sure...but does anyone get away from this hand???

i try never to commit all my chips in an unraised pot, unless i hold the nuts.
everyone is trying to turn the nuts for free

and someone might have got there.

just my philosophy.

K3nt I disagree that his raise isn't big enough to try and get me to fold. I bet close to the pot on the turn and he raised me 3x what I bet. Though I don't believe he would make a complete bluff in that spot, a semibluff or a set is extremely likely. I'm leading out with a straight....I'm sure he thought I had two pair or an overpair or something. Not many people lead out with straights.

I'm just amazed at how soft you guys would play this hand! There's really only one hand beating me, cuz I know this guy isn't playing 95. 9T is it. Other then that, I'm beating a lot of other stuff.

If you're willing to call his turn raise...and then the flush doesn't hit....do you call his all-in on the river? It sounds like you would...and that doesn't make sense to me. Gotta get your chips in when you think you have the best of it and maybe make him fold a semi bluff on the turn.

Someone needs to convince me this all-in was the wrong play. No one has yet :)

I played a similar hand last week. We got it all in on flop. My opponent (with the nut straight) had only $100 though.
You say this guy is a good player... Do you think he will call your reraise with a set? Would you play it different if you had a deeper stack, say $300?
I think I loose my stack in this hand though.

What you say makes sense to me.

Probably over the long run you make money on this hand.

I just hate the variance.

Your question was this. Does anyone get away from this hand? I think I probably do, even though it probably costs me money over the long run.

Of course you lose your stack here. No questoins about it unless your stacks are very very deep. Both played the hand very well and there is no way you can put him on 910 for sure with that play up to that point.

I would have lost my stack on this hand as well. I have no problems with your play. However, its a little suspicious that he would have waited til the turn to raise with a set when the board is cooridinated. therefore, in the back of my mine, 9T is there.

9 10 is possible but you cant know for sure, you cant even be greater than 50% decided he has it and thus you have to move in.

Kenny unless I have a strong read on this player being an absolute rock. The small raise on the turn looks to me more of a way to try to figure out where he is in the hand and that screams top 2, a set or a big draw (flush and straight) Q/10 or Q/9 of hearts. Personally I am willing to deal with the variance with hands like this because I think you win $$ on this hand in the long run. Its not like you bet with the one card sucker end.

Kenny - I have no problems with the way you played that hand, I think it was just a situation where he could be drawing or have top pair even though in the back of your mind your thinking surely he doesn't have 9-10, but if he does then he is just gonna have to show me and he will get paid off.
Just an unfortunate situation I have found myself in your shoes as well.

I think kenny and I play very similar--I lose my stack here. Don't beat yourself up over it.

I have to say I think you are losing your stack here everytime.

Because he played from MP I think T9 is a tough hand to put him on. Also with the betting, he might bet the same with a set or an overpair. I see too many possible other hands in there for you get such an accurate read to walk away. Also I think from his point of view he has no clue on your hand but he cannot really play in a way assuming you hit the straight.

I think if you got it you play like you got it, this way if he hasn't you win more money. If he has got it better you lose but I think we are all good enough to players to normally be in the better position and this is how we win money...
