$1600 pot with pocket twos.

As I sit at my 5/5 NL table one of the older regulars at the game tells me Ivan why did you call that $500 on the river with your Kings yesterday? All I could say was I know, I know I f$%k that one up and have been getting nightmares and blasted on the forum that I post at. Anyways, back to the game. 3 hours in and I have about $1100 from my original $500 buy in. I get 22 in 3rd position and I limp another limper and CO raises it to $35 (pretty standard). Small blind calls, I call, MP calls. Flop is AcJc2h. Well hello there Mr set. I check hopin CO bets out his Ace, and it gets checked around. HUH? Turn comes a club (forgot which one) so I bet $100 to see where I'm at. MP calls, CO raises to $300...wtf? SB folds, I go into the tank. Co has double my stack and is very tricky, aggressive. I don't put him on the clubs b/c I've played with him before and I am almost certain he would have bet that flop. So what could he have JJ, AA, with slight chance of AJ or even less likely AK. Well, since I don't read him for the club, he is going to have to show me AA or JJ with that reraise--is this too stubborn? I mean the odds are slim, but still possible that he has them, but why check the flop with that board. Just doesn't make sense to me. And also, with a slim chance that he checked the club draw on the flop and hit it on the turn I call hoping to fill up on the river, and if he does have the flush I"m pretty sure I'm going to get paid on the river if I hit. MP goes all in for his last $200... ouch so I might need to fill up to win. Well the river is a 2. QUADS BABY. I bet $300 and CO calls. He turns over AJ.

How badly did CO play this hand. Well he checked the flop with two pair--huge mistake. Reraises me with no clubs on the turn and then proceeds to call my river bet when the board pairs. Now that is horrible poker...I'm glad to get paid off like that any day. Who says you can only find fish online.

Any comments on how I played the hand and my thinking would be greatly appreciated.

Mad is right. Bet that flop and you are getting paid by top two pair every time. Slowplaying saved the CO some money there because I am sure you would be pushing it all in on that flop. He played that horribly by letting the club hit the turn for free, but you let it hit too with your check. If quads hadn't come up on the river, would MP be raking that pot in? Your odds to catch the FH or quads were incredibly slim w/ the cutoff holding a hand that if another Ace or Jack hits the board you also lose. If you had bet into the preflop raiser on that hand on the flop, MP calls, CO raises, you go over the top w/ a large bet maybe MP folds in that spot w/o a made hand. CO probably isn't able to get away from this one unless he can put you on 22 which would be really really difficult. So, yeah, I agree with Mad. :)
