When did a bunch of "pros" start playing .5/1

Postby JJSCOTT2 » Wed Mar 01, 2006 2:36 am

I was just playing some PokerStars .5/1 for a while and it had to be collectively the most tight agressive solid play I've ever seen in my life. I had 4 tables going, couldn't get one table that was over 20% VPIP, not to mention the PFR% on all tables was above 8%, so I kept rechecking the lobby and getting on the waitlists for better looking tables, getting into those, and it was the same crap. I literally had one table where EVERY single player at the table (besides me) was a "sad face" which I guess is Tight Neutral, although they all had AF over 1.00. I've been playing mostly .25/.50 up until tonight and its been absolutely awesome, 8 players limping, and if they are gonna play they have no problem calling 4 cold, etc. It just seems weird that going up 1 level the game could change completely especially when Stars offers NO bonus. So granted, it's late on a Tuesday night, not exactly primetime I guess, but what gives. If it is simply a matter of the time, do you think its better to try to just stick with playing evenings on weekdays and any time at night Thursday- Sunday? Would be intersted to see what kind of experiences other people who play Stars have had with finding good tables.

Funny you should mention this as I've seen the same thing recently. I, too, usually play at the $.25/.50 level and dabbled at the $.50/$1 a time or 2 before. The last couple of times I've been at this level I've seen the same thing, much tighter and more aggressive. I though it was kind of strange when I saw it during the afternoon but even more so in the evenings, too.

PokerStars .5/1

That's probably your answer right there, if you want some good old fashioned crazy .50/1 I suggest Party Poker.
