My opponent here is pretty LAG-ish, but my table image is very rock-ish. So, I was surprized when he bet the river at full pot. My plan had been to let him bet into me with his deuce again on the river, and hopefully I'd be full by that time.

However, when he actually DID bet again, I thought I was probably beat. With my check on the flop, then call on the turn, I had pretty much telegraphed that I had an 8. I felt like I was at minimum outkicked, and that he was probably full--quads were a bit stronger than I expected.

On the other hand, the pot isn't enormous, and I hate to go around laying down top trips on that kind of board...

If he is a good lag then you've set off his alarm bells by flat calling the turn. On this board, he knows that you have at least an 8 in your hand. If he still bets the river, you know he has at least an 8 as well, in which case you're probably beat.

If he's a bad lag, well, then I guess it's also possible that he has an overpair. But a good lag should be wary about a flat call on this board, and will sense a trap.

Fold the river for the reasons everyone else says. You showed you had a 8 and he's not scared on the river and hopes you call for the exact reasons why you did call.
