Attacking the 55 Turbos on Stars

Postby Triple B » Wed Mar 15, 2006 11:36 pm

As stated in another thread, I am going to take a good run at the 55s. I am doing it for 3 main reasons:

1. Make money (what better reason is there?)
2. Get a large sample size at one level/site so I really know where I am at. I don't have enough data at any level to know what my ROI really is. I don't think I've stayed at one level/site for more than 200 SnGs.
3. I want to prove to myself I can achieve over 20% ROI at this level. If I can, I have found a way to make well over $50/hr with little risk (4 tabling). This would make these atleast as profitable as 1/2 NL for me.

This quest started yesterday. I will mostly 4 table, although frequently 2 of the tables will be either 180 man SnGs, other MTTs or ring games Full Tilt.

Here are my results so far:

SnGs: 11
1st: 4
2nd: 2
3rd: 1

ITM %: 63.6%
ROI: 110% (This brings my lifetime ROI at the 55s up to 13.3%)

Great start. Obviously not sustainable.

In 2 of my losses, I went out with TT. One, I reraised and villain called with A3 and hit an A. Another, there was a min raise (to 200) and 3 callers. I pushed 1200 from the SB. The min raiser called with AQo, and the 2nd caller called with AJs. Q hits, I'm done.

I am really liking my play so far...if I can keep this up, I think 20% ROI will be easy. With my experience at the 105s, these 55s seem like a cake walk.

Here's an update.

SnGs: 40
1st: 5 (yes, just 1 win in the last 29...ouch)
2nd: 11
3rd: 4

ITM %: 50%
ROI: 36%

Lots of pain when I get heads up.

Here are a couple of examples:
1. All-in with AQ vs QJ. GG me.
2. Raise with AK, I cover. Flop A74. I bet over half of villains remaining stack (this is about 3/4 pot). Viilain calls. 2 on the turn, I put him all in. He flips 53. WTF? GG me.
3. Hit a set with 44. We get allin on the flop of KT4, villain flips AK. Turn T, river K. GG me.

One thing I have done well in is only 3 bubbles. Of these, one was losing AK vs K3. Another was getting it allin on the flop with top pair, only to be outkicked. When I'm short, TP any kicker is a pretty nice hand.

In short, my ITM % is amazing so far, and while my ROI looks good, it really should be much higher. I will try to maintain my ROI as my ITM drops (as it inevitably will).
