Could he beat the board? (LC)

Postby GodlikeRoy » Wed Mar 01, 2006 8:41 pm

That is the question.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t400 (3 handed)

Hero (t6405)
BB (t5270)
Button (t8325)

Preflop: Hero is SB with [9h], [8c].
1 fold, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (t800) [Kh], [7h], [Tc] (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets t400, Hero calls t400.

Turn: (t1600) [Ts] (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets t585, Hero calls t585.

River: (t2770) [Qs] (2 players)
Hero checks, BB folds.

Final Pot: t2770

I was playing limit earlier and got 23o in the big blind. One guy limped in from late position so it was heads up. Didn't pair anything and checked down each round. At the river I told the guy to just go ahead and bet cause I had the worst possible hand, but he took the free showdown and turned up some paint high.

I don't think a situation could ever arise when I'd try to bluff with 23o to win 0.75BB.

Why not? I do it quite frequently heads up. If I have a hand like 23o and it gets checked down, the only way I can win is if I bet. Sometimes I will give up the pot, but others I will bet and hope for a fold.

He could've been on a low flush draw and missed? Or he clicked the wrong button :D
