5 Handed SnG's at Pacific

Postby iani » Wed Jul 26, 2006 7:44 am

Hi, first post on the site!

I've taken to playing the 5 handed SnG's at pacific. Playing the $11 games at present to see how I go. ROI is 13% although not too important at the minute as I have only played 60 or 70 so far.

5 players, 800 in chips, blinds start at 10/20 and increase every 15 hands, 1,2,3 paid.

Most of the info and articles available focus on 10 player SnG's, can anyone point me to any articles or information on the short handed variation?

At the minute I'm playing very very tight in levels 1-3, level 4 blinds hit 50/100, at that point dependent on stack size and number of players left my strategy changes to agressive pre flop play. Basically I adopt the strategy thats being preached high up and low down for 10 man SnG's. Is this correct given that we start with only 5 players and 3 are paid, albeit 3rd losing $1!

Are that any other strict SH SnG players out there? What strategy do you adopt? Do you follow the same route as 10 man games or is there some variation?

Look forward to any replies....

As far as i'm aware everyone on this forum plays full-ring SNGs.. Though my guess would be a slightly loose and aggressive style would be best for a 6max SNG, basically because the blinds will come around much more quickly so you must accumulate chips fast.
Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

Only play for first. Not enough money for second and or third to mean anything.
Partake in my bollocks, bloody chav!
