3 hands from 45 person sng

Postby thnwkd » Tue Mar 28, 2006 7:48 pm

Was not sure if this should be in MTT forum or not.

short handed final 2 tables
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t600 (5 handed)

Button (t10665)
SB (t4860)
Hero (t3780)
UTG (t6560)
MP (t11220)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [2c], [6c].
UTG raises to t1200, 3 folds, Hero calls t600.

Flop: (t2000) [6s], [7c], [Ac] (2 players)
Hero bets t2530 (All-In), UTG folds.

Final Pot: t4530

there's something wrong with the converter. there's a 50 ante. utg min raise makes the pot 2350 giving me almost 4:1 odds so i call. pot is 2950 and the flop is very favorable so i push. Was the push ok or should i have chkd giving villian the change to bluff at it?

Final Table.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t600 (9 handed)

MP3 (t13265)
CO (t3310)
Button (t1445)
SB (t8400)
Hero (t4580)
UTG (t5560)
UTG+1 (t4440)
MP1 (t14030)
MP2 (t12470)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [9c], [Ac].
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to t1800, 4 folds, Button calls t1395 (All-In), SB calls t1500, Hero calls t1200.

was gonna push over utg+1 raise because he was very loose but with the btn goin AI and loose sb calling, wasnt sure what to do. was getting great odds so i decided to just call.

Flop: (t6295) [Ah], [7d], [3d] (4 players, 1 all-in)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG+1 checks.

push??? huge pot but i have a small stack so i don't think i have any fold equity.

Turn: (t6295) [Qh] (4 players, 1 all-in)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG+1 checks.

maybe a better spot to push here? but then its another draw card.

River: (t6295) [Kd] (4 players, 1 all-in)
SB bets t600, Hero calls t600, UTG+1 folds.

damn. a value bet. gotta call though, just in case that is exactly what he wants me to think.... and the pot is huge.

what would you do differently?

Final Pot: t7495
Main Pot: t5250 (t5250), between Button, SB and Hero.
Pot 2: t2245 (t2245), between SB and Hero.

hand 1 - unless you're planning on implementing a stop-and-go strat whereby you push ANY flop, i'd fold this preflop. As played i think your push is fine, you probably got him to throw away a pocket pair. If you've seen him do these kind of minbets with KQ/KJ/JQ type hands i'd probably give him a chance to bluff at it because you're a huge favourite over those type of hands.

hand 2 - i fold preflop here too. UTG+1 has put about 2/5 of his stack in, i dont see him folding to your all-in. As played I probably check that flop too and fold to a bet by anyone, which is why i dont like calling with A9. i'd push that turn though.

hand 3 - if you're gonna steal i'd make it 2400 preflop, as it is if the SB folds the BB is getting great odds to call and he has the stack to backup his call. but as played there's not much you can do but call the SBs raise and hope for the best.

Hand 1: If you had at least 6000 chips, I wouldn't mind calling the min-raise there with any two cards. Here you only have 3780, so calling the min-raise means you're pushing on any flop. The min-raise brings you down to about 2500 chips, barely 4x the BB, so you cannot call the PF raise and then fold. I think you clearly should have folded here.

Hand 2: Fold. You're probably dominated or drawing thin against the 3 other contenders for the pot and you only have 4800 chips. Calling the raise brings you down to 3000 chips, exactly 5x the BB.

Hand 3: I'd raise closer to 2.5x the BB, making it 2000 to go. You had to call SB's all-in over the top with any two cards there with your tremendous odds and decent stack (a little more than 10x the BB).

Always pay attention to your "M" (Harrington term) in tournaments. When you have less than 8x the BB, you are severely limited in your moves. Your only moves should be all-in or fold until you build your stack back up again.
