One of the things I've learned in heads up play is to not go all in without a part of the board. Seems simple enough, but I've seen players go all in with big overcards and lose to my top pair (or sometimes middle pair). This usually happens when they are the short stack, so I can risk the call.
That brings me to a slightly different point. I am the short stack and I pick up an OE straight draw or a non-nut flush draw on the flop. Say there are $13,500 in chips total (9 handed SNG on FT), and you have $1200-$2000 left. You bet the minimum hoping to see the turn/river cheaply and get put all in. Do you:
a: call and hope to double up even though you are a 3-1 dog and only getting 2-1 for your money?
b: fold it up and hope you get another shot, even though you only have 3-4 BBs left.
I can tell you that I find myself taking option A more often than B.
What do you think? Is this a leak in my game, or am I just taking a knowledgeable gamble in a tough situation.
Thanks
