How to identify a good player?

Postby justin984 » Tue Aug 16, 2005 12:34 am

We all know how to find the bad players.. they're the ones reraising preflop with kjo and doing other similar, stupid things. But what criteria do you use to identify someone as a good player? I have trouble with this. Generally I sit down fully expecting a table full of fish and sometimes I'm right, but not often. Usually there are at least 1-2 other good players and I think being able to pick these players out would be especially helpful in some of the trickier situations. Ideas?

lOOK FOR THE GUYS MAKING THE SUBTLE MOVES. Not as much what cards they play. Becuase a good player may also play some shitty cards cheap early on to throw you off. Has he check raised? Has he slowplayed a hand? Did he raise PF, then threw out a continuation bet on the flop? Stay in the game with your head....did someone catch a str8t or flush on the river that you assumed made them look like a fish when in actuallity they had pot odds to draw to it? Just a few things to look for. It will also keep your head in the game and foot out of your arse for not seeing them coming later on when the money is on the line.. In my opinion that is
