I just gave us some extra starting up time this time around (also with Xmas holidays coming up), and I thought it would be easier if the first season of a year would begin on January 1. Then everyone would know pretty much without looking that a season will begin on the first of every odd month and end on the last of every even month.

Particularly now that we're just trying to get this thing going, I didn't think it would be a good idea to have a season December 1-January 31. That's all a screwy time. This way, everyone can get their matches out of the way before the holidays, and we'll just have to figure up what the new groups are going to be during that time.
