Push these?

Postby DoctorHandles » Mon Oct 30, 2006 1:12 am

Trying out the SNG's at Bodog, these are all $30 buy ins. No major reads on anyone, players aren't for the most part very good. Payout is 50-30-20 for top 3.

Hand #1. 7 handed. I have 735 and am dealt [As][8h] in UTG+1 (5 are left to act after me). Blinds are 50/100. Push this?

Hand #2. 7 handed. UTG limps, UTG+1 limps, and SB limps (all cover me with between 1000-1500 chips). I am dealt [8d][9d] in the BB. Push for 635 more?

Hand #3- 5 handed. UTG limps, and SB completes. Blinds are 100/200 and I have [Kc] [Js]. I have 4000 and both limpers have 1400 and 1600 more (I am leader and they are 2nd and 3rd at the table).

Hand #4- 4 handed. I am dealt [Qc][7h] on the button with 2600 chips. Blinds are 500/250. SB has 1270 chips and BB has 3300. Other guy who folded has about 3000. Push or wait?

For hand #1 I did fold, but I feel like I really need those 150 chips and not pushing probably screwed me later.

After one more set of blinds I'm down to under 600.

That said I'd rather be pushing almost anything other than an A8o, because anything I get called by is gonna have me dominated. Not really sure what's the right play here.

Rest of your advice/logic sounds good. Hand #3 I did push because I didn't figure 2nd and 3rd chip stacks would want to risk their tournament life against an obvious pro (and I was right), but hand #4 I folded to wait the small stack to get elminated. In retrospeck it was a weak fold and I should have just pushed.
