Set in the BB

Postby Sunbob » Sun Aug 21, 2005 11:41 pm

Okay guys, I'm sure we have talked about this before but I would like some feedback on how you would play this set.

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (9 handed)

UTG (t1300)
UTG+1 (t1550)
MP1 (t1390)
MP2 (t3110)
MP3 (t1500)
CO (t1610)
Button (t1570)
SB (t1430)
Hero (t1540)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [2d], [2h].
2 folds, MP1 calls t20, 1 fold, MP3 calls t20, CO raises to t80, 2 folds, Hero calls t60, MP1 calls t60, MP3 folds.

Flop: (t270) [8c], [7s], [2s] (3 players)
Hero bets t270, MP1 calls t270, CO calls t270.

Turn: (t1080) [Jc] (3 players)
Hero bets t1190 (All-In), MP1 folds, CO folds.

Final Pot: t2270

Results in white below:
No showdown. Hero wins t2270.

It's only hand 11 and I really have no reads. I usually wouldn't even play this hand this early but my "spidey sense" was tingling  In other words - I took a flyer on it.

I hit and bet out because I like to bet into the PF raiser and I didn't want to let the flush draw have a free card. When MP1 came along I was convinced he was on a draw and figured CO for a high PP.

On the turn I figured I was still ahead but maybe the straight had hit. I supposed I could have bet half pot but a near full pot bet would be almost my whole stack so I just pushed.

Okay guys - what do you do with this hand?

You asked: I would fold it to the preflop raise.

But once we get past that, you played it fine.

I'm still in Ft. Myers. Still in FEMA trailer. It seems there's enough people who want to buy a 300K condo that those of us who can afford 100K are SOL. But, the show may be back on.

SNGs are now really weak tight, but there are better players at $10 than I've ever seen. Actually showing a lot of patience. Lately, there are 5-7 left at very high levels, like $100/200TC. Comes down to a coinflip, too often.

Good to hear from ya, again. Best wishes,

CJ

No, I didn't show this hand. I rarely show a hand. About the only time I show is
1. if I want to show a very strong hand to give the message that when I am in a pot I have the goods, especially if it could be construed as a blind steal.

2. when I have something like 72o in the BB and someone made an obvious steal. Just a little message that next time I may have the goods.

I have no idea if this makes any difference at all to the other players but it helps me stay focused.
