I managed to have a complete big stack melt-down last night in an $11 SNG on Full Tilt. I had about $5000 in chips with 5 players left. Now in the past, I've been pretty tight in these situations, picking my spots to step in, etc. I felt I was doing that again in this hand. Here is the situation:
Blinds are 100/200 and I'm in the SB. MP raises it to 600, which is a standard raise, and is tough to put on some kind of a hand. This guy has been becoming more loose, and played some marginal stuff early. I have:
K J (spades)
I call the bet and the BB folds. Flop is:
K (diamond) 2 (club) 10 (diamond)
I'm first to act and bet the pot (which is 1400). He goes over the top, putting me all in. There's obviously a range of hands he could have here, AK, trip 10s, diamond flush draw that he's overbetting, etc. I've seen people at the $11s even push with A 10 in this kind of a situation. I think about it and call the all-in, risking my tournament life, but if I win, I have the table pretty much crippled.
He turns over pocket 2s and had hit his set, which holds up.
Given what happened, obviously I played this hand wrong, or did I? Please tell me what you think. Did I lower my starting hand requirements too much given my stack size?
