Stealing From BB After Open-Completer

Postby EscapePlan9 » Sat Nov 12, 2005 4:10 am

This is a move that everyone needs to have in their repertoire. Don't do it everytime SB open-completes, and prefer to do it against the semi-loose and weak opponents. They are more likely to open-limp with complete crap and fold to your raise.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (3 handed)

Hero (t3368)
Button (t2810)
SB (t1822)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [4s], [Td].
1 fold, SB completes, Hero raises to t800, SB folds.

Final Pot: t1000

It's a risky play against the loosest opponents who think J-high is good and such, so pick your spots.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (5 handed)

MP (t600)
Button (t1450)
SB (t3925)
Hero (t800)
UTG (t1225)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [Jh], [Qs].
3 folds, SB completes, Hero raises t800, SB calls.

Flop: (t950) [9d], [3s], [8h] (2 players)

Turn: (t950) [As] (2 players)

River: (t950) [6d] (2 players)

Final Pot: t950

Results in white below:
SB has Ts Jd (high card, ace).
Hero has Jh Qs (high card, ace).
Outcome: Hero wins t950.
