Stupid or not?

Postby Cactus Jack » Fri Jan 28, 2005 5:46 am

I don't post hands, usually, but this one is bothering me a lot. $10+1 SNG on Interpoker. I thought if I doubled up off this guy, I'd cruise into the money. (I'm only looking to win one hand in the first three rounds.)

I was on the button with 9-9. The hand before, opponent had doubled up with 7-2s in UTG+1. This time he raised the minimum UTG and it folded around to me. Blinds at 15-30--Round 2--so I raised to T120. He raised me all in and we were heads up, so I called all in.

He showed AKo, flop AA10, and I'm all done.

I've really had problems playing SNGs. Reading Al Spath's articles on the front page have helped me, immensely. If the cards come at all, I do well, but they've not been friendly lately. I've gone out 4 or 5 several times when I just couldn't catch anything. I rarely ever go out this early anymore.

Was this a stupid gamble on my part, or just bad luck? Should I have folded when he went all in?

Thanks for the help. I need it.

Thanks, Nash. I'm learning to wait out the Kx, Qx, two of anything as long as it's suited fish. They always go bust sooner or later, I'm starting to realize. The learning curve is steep and mighty, but the student is persistent.

I won three 10s, and second in a twenty, today. Just lost a 10 in 5th position when I simply could not catch any decent cards. Blinds had climbed to 200/100 and 6 were left. Strange table. Almost like a limit game. When it got down to five, I had to wonder if any of my opponents were in foreign lands, since they had NO idea how to play. Frustrating when you can't get enough cards to make them pay for an education. On a short table, I'm tough.

Please keep the information rolling. I'm all ears.
