(60 turbo) JJ Overpair on the flop, fold?

Postby GodlikeRoy » Sun Aug 13, 2006 6:53 pm

Both opponents are your average tight player. Standard? I figure best case scenario i'm flipping vs a hand like AQh.

PokerStars Tournament, Big Blind is t20 (9 handed)

UTG (t1500)
Hero (t1500)
MP1 (t1280)
MP2 (t1500)
MP3 (t1480)
CO (t1500)
Button (t1760)
SB (t1480)
BB (t1500)

Preflop: Hero is in UTG+1 with [Jh] [Jc]
UTG raises to t60, Hero calls t60, MP1 calls t60, MP2 calls t60, MP3 folds, CO calls t60, Button calls t60, SB folds, BB calls t40

Flop: (t430) [3h] [8d] [4h] (7 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets t280, MP1 folds, MP2 raises to t660, CO calls t660, Button folds, BB folds, UTG folds, Hero folds

Turn: (t2030) [7d] (2 players)
MP2 bets t780 (All-in), CO calls t780 (All-in)

River: (t3590) [Kd] (2 players)
Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

I was up against 44 and 88.

I don't like re-raising preflop with so many people left to act behind me and the fact that i've seen so many donks re-push with AK, AQ or TT/99 and i'd be forced to lay the hand down. I prefer flat-calling and then check-folding if i miss my set and get 6 callers than re-raising TBH. If I was in late position i'd re-raise for certain.
