Wake up! What happened to our SNG forum?

Postby EscapePlan9 » Sun Jun 18, 2006 7:43 pm

I've been hoping more people would post hands here for us to analyze. Although I'm disgusted by some 2p2 players attitudes, at least there's a lot of activity there and many well thought out responses.

I just finished bonus clearing on BoDog. I hadn't played there since last November and things have changed quite a bit. The most important part of the game now is playing optimally on the bubble (well, of course you play tight early too). The only way to do this is by knowing when to push and when to fold. And the best way to have a good feel for this is by using the repeatedly - the only downfall is the $79 registration fee. Trust me, SNG-PT will pay for itself after you play with it for a while. Alternatively, you can use the free ICM calculator, but it's far more laborious and not as useful.

For those unfamiliar with the programs I'm referring to, or why push-botting in late stages is optimal, read these two posts I made earlier.

And for those who refuse to participate on 2p2... I would never have learned about these programs if I didn't browse there. I'm not saying ditch this forum - we have some great players here who have good attitudes. But I would highly recommend also reading and responding to the 2p2 posts on STTs - this will vastly improve your game, even if you think you're good now!

Anyone who uses these utilities correctly and learns from them will have a significant advantage against the rest of the players. I hope anything I said here inspires some discussion. This forum is nearly dead. Prove me wrong!

Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

The older you get, the more rules they are going to try and get you to follow. You just gotta keep on livin', man. L-I-V-I-N. - Wooderson

Sorry, should have been a little more clear. What EscapePlan is saying is what I was eluding to. No, I'm still not pushing or calling a large bet early on a draw. But I am willing to take a cheap flop early with some smaller pairs as well as a few more button and SB calls. Nothing drastic, just small variation to the old fold fold fold in the earliest stages.
